When a "Shock Wave" Hits Part II

MICHAEL ARRANGES MEETING WITH AGENT PIERCE

After Michael left Fi in prison he needed to meet with Agent Dani Pierce, his CIA contact, to let her know about Anson.

Michael made seven phone calls, sent four texts and two cryptic emails just to set an urgent cloak and dagger meeting in the woods with Agent Pearce. She thought Michael enjoyed being a spy a little too much. And he needed a hobby.

Michael informed her that he knew where they could  find Anson Fullerton. He was receiving cash and fresh travel documents every few weeks and he was picking up a new package the next day at a motel in Atlantic City.

Agent Pearce wanted to know how Michael new that? The point was that Michael knew it. "We've cut off every bank account, every know associate, every line of support Anson had. Whose helping him?"

Michael didn't want to give up his source. "My source on this is confidential but I can vouch..." Pierce cut him off mid-sentence and wanted to know. "It's Rebecca. She's the only known contact that's still out in the wind. You found her, didn't you? You tracked down a traitor to this agency and you didn't even tell me about it?"

Michael told her he did what he had to do. Then he wanted to know if she wanted to reprimand him for not following one protocol or did she want to catch Anson?

She replied. "Honestly? Both."

Michael told her one of them could wait. They only had hours not days to catch him. And it was necessary to keep it quiet which would require using his people.

Pierce had different ideas.  She would run the op. Michael couldn't believe what he was hearing. They finally had him and she might ruin it. She reminded him that he was meeting her because he needed CIA resources. If he wanted to pick the team, fine, but he couldn't include Sam. If he was in the mix and they came up empty handed again everyone of her bosses would line up to kick her.

Michael pushed the blame on Pierce if the op went bad. "It's the agency's loss. Sam is every bit as good as I am. And he accepts domestic beer as payment." Pearce told him sarcastically that she would put a note in Sam's file.

Michael tossed back his head back in disgust, gave a "it's your loss" look, got up and walked away.

BREAKING THE BAD NEWS TO SAM

Michael and his brother Nate went to one of Sam's favorite fishing spots to give him the bad news that he wouldn't be joining them capturing Anson. Fishing was one of his favorite past times. Women, drinking beer and Mojitos where one, two and three, but I'm not sure always in that order.

Sam, was naturally upset when Michael told him he wasn't included in capturing Anson. "I don't get to go?" He said as he through his fishing pole to the ground. Michael apologized. "I'm sorry, Sam." Sam continued voicing his anger. "Come on. I've been helping you slog through this burn notice garbage for how many years now? And I don't get to be there when you finally put the wraps on the last bastard standing?"

Michael assured Sam he tried to include him. "I told them they were making a mistake, but you know how it is? You, the agency. You." Sam had angered the agency in past operations, so he wasn't on their best side.

Understandable Sam continued his objection. "I'm not sure you should even be using their people on this, Mike. Who knows where Anson has ears in D.C.?"

Michael again tried to comfort Sam. "That's why we're keeping it as tight as possible."

Nate added. "Exactly, why do you think he's letting me go?"

This angered Sam even more. "He gets to go?"

Nate was offended. "Wow, that's a little harsh." He added. "I'm just helping with transpo. Keeping the head count down and besides, no one knows Atlantic City better than I do."

Michael signaled to Nate and Sam to stop talking because he had something to say.

Ignoring Michael's warning, Nate continued. "I drove a limo up there and gambled. Mostly, I gambled."

Finally, they stopped talking long enough for Michael to speak. He asked Sam to do him a favor, his part of the operation. "I hate to ask but do you think you can keep an eye on my mom?" Still angered he sarcastically responded. "Oh you mean she isn't handling surveillance and communications?" Then agreed. "Yes, I'll do it. Fine."

Sam was the one Michael always asked to protect his mother. "Thank you." Michael was grateful. He knew his mother would be safe in the event something went wrong with the op.

Sam, thought for a moment and said. "Knock 'em dead, boys."
